The Department of Education, St. Xavier's College, Ranchi was inaugurated on 2nd July, 2005.NCTE recognition to St. Xavier's College, Ranchi for B.Ed. Course of one year duration from the academic session 2005-2006 with an annual intake of 100 (one hundred) students was granted (through letter no. ERC/7-50(ER-50.5.6)/2004/3134 dated October 29, 2004) and HRD, Jharkhand Government gave NOC to St. Xavier's College, Ranchi to run B.Ed. Course (vide letter no. 6/A/ 4-02/2004 1659 dated 23.6.2004).

Ranchi University, Ranchi gave permission to St. Xavier's College, Ranchi to conduct B.Ed. Course from the session 2004-2005 (vide letter no. RU/VC/R/24/03 dated 10.12.2003 ).
