The World today has been be-seized by flood of mass communication. Individuals today are communicating with masses more effectively and accurately with feedback, faster than they ever did. Mass communication tools have become more enriched; they continue to get richer day by day. In this changed scenario, a forma degree in Mass Communication equips a person to take on the sophisticated world with more preparedness. The three years' UG course that the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication offers here consists of four parts: Print Media, Electronic Media, Advertisement and Film studies. Students of Journalism and Mass Communication are taught how to write, how to operate the video camera, techniques of video editing and sound. Different aspects of the world of advertisement too are taught. Films studies include different stages of film making like script and screenplay writing, cinematography and post production. The department also holds a students' festival at which short fiction and documentary prepared by the students, are screened. Students from other colleges are also take part in it. Reputed persons from film making are invited to grace the occasion, where the students interact with them face to face. The fest is entirely a students' affair, and the teachers only play a midwifery role.

At a time when the country has numerous print media and electronic media houses, a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication offers scope and opportunity for working with these houses. Many past students of the department are presently with reputed media houses, playing their role in Indian democracy. Film industry too offers good destination for aspiring film makers. This apart, things like YouTube is offering new vista for film makers to showcase their creations. Students also take up the career of Independent film maker.

Aim & Objective

Media is termed as the most powerful communication aspects of the democracy today. It is also termed as the fifth pillar of democracy. Due to the increasing number of visual media and print media the job of the media persons is very critical and vide with responsibility. Presently more than 400 electronic media are there and equal numbers of print media are also present. Vast opportunities are created in these industries for the trained manpower. Different production houses are also increase the demand for the trained manpower. This course is providing the opportunity for the students who intend to start their in these fields of journalism, public relations, mass communication and video production.

Students can pursue Masters Degree/Post Graduate Diploma on Mass Communication & Journalism. You can also pursue professional photography course to enter the magical world of media & documentation. You can also pursue your career as columnist, freelance journalist, media critics etc. This degree is valid for any competitive examination also. You are also eligible for CAT/XAT/MAT like management entrance examination.
